Some local resident of our new neighborhood, in a fit of civic pride, erected this sign on a nearby hillside in tribute to the famous Hollywood sign. Folks call it "HiFi" for short. Perhaps if our termite tent doesn't work, I can leap to my doom from the "H" like the tragic starlet of film legend! (Maybe after I sprained my ankle and tumbled onto Glendale Boulevard, a taco truck would run over me and finish me off.) (After I climbed over that big wrought-iron fence that is.)

come one, come all to the greatest termite show on earth!
Somewhere inside this big top a termite circus is dying a horrible death... sometimes they make the termite tents look more festive, like orange and green stripes. Unfortunately, ours just looks like a termite funeral. Hopefully that's what it is.
fridge hutch
Our kitchen cabinets are getting done. Soon they will be sagey green... and have a sink too. We also have a fridge hutch now, something we've never had...
So our fridge can be nice and cozy.
Here's our '50s stove... they did such a nice job restoring it, that they packed it up like the Ark of the Covenant so it wouldn't get a scratch. Not sure how we're going to get it out of there...
Corner cabinets, with a lazy susan inside. Soon we will have enough cabinet space to cook like Julia Child... prepare for some fine dining!

a post full of Sarah shots
It's come to my attention (thanks Mom!) that there aren't enough photos of me on this blog. I was trying to do that on purpose, I'm not photogenic and I always dislike photos of myself, no matter what anyone says about them. But I'm relenting, and this post will contain ALL PHOTOS of ME (happy Mom?) :)
Without further ado, here I am....
Here's a blurry shot of me, and a much better shot of the new paint and floors! Don't they look nice?
I can't say I like this shot, but Daniel does so it made the cut. Here's me on our porch, while the floor is being installed behind me. Part of our remodeling plans include covering the porch in wood planks, to cover up the tile and stucco. Should look good!
Here's the back of me, AND the back of our house! Notice the new siding on the right. We believe that was once a back patio, but at some point it got walled in and will now be our laundry/storage room. Whoever walled it in did a pretty shabby job so Javi our contractor added some nicer siding to the outside. It's MUCH better than the plywood siding we had before!
Speaking of siding, here I am checking our the new shingles Javi added to replace the ones that had either rotted or were missing. He's such a great contractor, he even went to the trouble to find old style shingles to match our house. Once the exterior paint goes on, you'll never be able to tell where they were missing!
And I lied, I'm not in all of the pictures. I had to add this one though to show you our new floor completed! Our house is starting to look like a real home, we're so excited!
i can see myself in.... this stove!
Behold, probably the shiniest and cleanest our stove top will EVER be! Thanks to the sweet Carolina of Carolina's Appliances, our vintage O'Keefe and Merritt stove is all fixed up!
We haven't actually brought it over to the house yet (the floors weren't ready as quickly as the stove was), so here are a couple shots of it sitting at the shop waiting to be picked up. Carolina and her team re-chromed the chrome parts, polished it up, and made sure that everything is in perfect working order. Daniel tells me there are actually cooking instructions printed on the inside of the stove door, in case I need some help with my cake baking or forget how to roast a chicken. Lucky me!
Aww.... posing next to the stove, what a guy!
